How the planner works
- Annual income = monthly income × 12 + other income.
- Tax at the new-regime slab rates, less the section 87A / 156 rebate, plus 4% cess.
- Less tax already deducted at source. If what's left is ₹10,000 or more, advance tax applies.
- The result is split into the cumulative 15% / 45% / 75% / 100% instalments, and divided by 12 for a monthly set-aside.
Worked example
A freelancer expects ₹1,50,000 a month plus ₹60,000 of interest: ₹18,60,000 for the year, with ₹20,000 TDS.
| Slab tax | ₹20,000 + ₹40,000 + ₹60,000 + ₹52,000 = ₹1,72,000 |
|---|---|
| Cess 4% | ₹6,880 → total ₹1,78,880 |
| After TDS | ₹1,58,880 |
| Instalments | ₹23,832 by 15 Jun · ₹71,496 by 15 Sep · ₹1,19,160 by 15 Dec · ₹1,58,880 by 15 Mar (cumulative) |
| Set aside | about ₹13,240 a month |
Limits
- Uses the new regime only. Under the old regime your deductions change the result.
- Capital gains and other special-rate income are taxed differently and aren't modelled; surcharge above ₹50 lakh isn't included.
